The Bumpdate - Mid Week Edition

A Weekly Newsletter for Heart of Houston Birth and Wellness families and friends

Spring Forward

Well friends, it's that time of year again where we change our clocks for absolutely no good reason. The next week will be tough on those of us with bigger kiddos. Changes in routine can be hard for little ones, so "experts" recommend adjusting your schedule in 15 minutes increments leading up to time changes. This week also happens to be spring break for many of the larger school districts around town so thankfully that will help ease the transition. Mary and I will be taking a few days off this week to spend time with our kiddos while they are on break. Fear not, Bethany. Rowan and the rest of the crew are holding down the fort while we are away. Hopefully congress can get their butts in gear and pass that lock the clock legislation so we NEVER have to do time change again! That being said, this Bumpdate will be a quicky!

Over the Weekend

Mary hosted one of our core classes on Sunday covering what happens when your labor and birth plans have to change. Hopefully if you've been a HOH family for any period of time you've learned that we like to remind you that birth is the perfect entry into parenthood. Duh, right? Well, what I mean is, you will be challenged time and time again to bend or even erase what you envisioned the experiance to be like and to just be present to see what unfolds. These little people are writing a story of their own and they don't always have time to ask for your input, so it is vital to prepare yourself to trust that your body and your baby are working together figure out the safest route here. And while birth can be a magical experiance it can also be the first time in your life that you've checked all the boxes, done all the things and the experiance looks much different than what you anticipated. Welcome to parenting my friend. Buckle up, you're in for one hell of a ride!
